DAO has two physical rehabilitation centers in Kunar and Uruzgan to provide services in the components of Orthotic prosthetic and physiotherapy. Physical rehabilitation is a process aimed at enabling people with permanent or temporary impairments to reach and maintain their optimal physical, psychological and social functional levels. It provides people with disabilities with the tools they need to attain independence and self-determination, including measures to restore functions and/or compensate for the loss or absence of a function or functional limitation through orthotic, prosthetic and physiotherapy.
Physical rehabilitation is also about building the self-esteem of people with disability and removing barriers that prevent a person with disabilities from integrated into society. These barriers may cause by:
The attitudes of the general population, society and leadership
The attitude of persons with disabilities themselves
Physical obstacles such as the inaccessibility of buildings and transport
