About Us

The Development and Ability Organization (DAO) founded in 2004. DAO performance has assessed by the Afghanistan Institute for Civil Society (AICS) against five categories including project management and program delivery, financial management, internal governance and strategic planning, external relations communication and outreach, human resurfaces and DAO Activities.

DAO met the certification standard and it was successfully certified. In addition to the above, in generally DAO has received a 'Best NGO Award' from the Islamic Government of Afghanistan's Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled. Many letters of appreciation for our work have received from the Afghan Parliament and many other government and non-government organizations.

DAO was founded in early 2004 to develop advocacy, physical rehabilitation, capacity building, awareness activities and research for people with disability.

Women Capacity Building

As cultural restrictions do not always allow mixed gender gatherings, But DAO plans to encourage female trainers to join DAO for providing training to women participants to ensure that this training opportunity will be available for female participants. DAO seeks to ensure that half of the participants are women in our activities.

DAO Rehabilitation Center

DAO is running two Physical rehabilitation centers in the east and south of the country producing artificial limbs for male, female and children with disabilities, implementing gait training assistive devices such as walking frames, elbow and auxiliary crutches and physiotherapy for male and females in the aforementioned locations as well as Nuristan and nearby districts of Daikondy and Zabul provinces.
